Speaking on the occasion, Ramamohana Rao said that there has been demand from the walkers association for provision of the walking tracks in the city to stay healthy and fit.

Happy Street, a green initiative project taken by the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC), has launched a 3.6 km stretch ‘Happy Street’ project from Polytechnic College to Ramavarapaddu, Gayathri Nagar and National Highway by MLA Gadde Ramamohana Rao along with city mayor Koneru Sreedhar.

Speaking on the occasion, Ramamohana Rao said that there has been demand from the walkers association for provision of the walking tracks in the city to stay healthy and fit. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has guided the officials to develop greenery on both sides of the National Highway. The estimate sot for the development is Rs 12. 7 lakh. “Measures will also be taken by the government in developing the 250 parks under VMC with the support of NGO’s and philanthropists”, he said.

Municipal Commissioner G Veerapandian said “The walking track is developed to give an aesthetic look and good health for the walkers. Based on the feedback from residents, similar tracks would be planned on different stretches in the city.”
