Vijayawada: Activists of the Communist Party of India (CPI) on Tuesday took out a `Erra Dandu’ rally here to mark the 90th foundation day celebrations of the party. Addressing the gathering, Narayana came down heavily on BJP-TDP regime for benefiting the corporates with the gas reserves at Krishna-Godavari basin and suppressing the common man. He said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has virtually done nothing for the development of the State.
Instead, he was taking revenge on the employees and Anganwadi workers who have been agitating for the genuine demands, he criticised. Responding on the call money issue, the CPI leader took a dig at the Chief Minister for transforming Vijayawada into a centre for scams, after designating it as part of the capital.
At least now, the Chief Minister should backtrack his idea of shielding his partymen, who were allegedly involved in the call money scandal. Judicial inquiry should be conducted by a sitting High Court judge and the accused should be prosecuted irrespective of their political affiliations, he demanded.
CPI State secretary K Ramakrishna, State executive committee members Mupalla Nageswara Rao, Jelli Wilson, CPI district secretary Akkineni Vanaja, city secretary Donepudi Shankar, working committee members N Sambasiva Rao, Ch Koteswara Rao, P Durga Bhavani, and other leaders took part in the rally.
