Vijayawada: Bhavani Deeksha devotees, are likely to face sea of problems during ‘Giri Pradakshina’ as the roads surrounding the Indrakeeladri are full of potholes and in a harrowing condition endangering the safety of devotees as well as pedestrians.

The relinquishment of 41-day Bhavani Deeksha will began at Indrakeeladri from Thursday morning after performing Agni Pratistapana. Lakhs of devotees are expected to throng the hill shrine to offer prayers to the Goddess Kanakadurga during the five-day celebrations.
But there were no initiative measures taken by the temple authorities in providing a safe route for the Bhavani devotees. Instead the temple authorities have been advising them to take out the Giri Pradakshina during the night time to avoid traffic problems.
Actually, the Giri Pradakshina route comprise seven kilometres, which starts from temple toll gate at Indrakeeladri hill via Kummaripalem Centre, Nalugu Stambala Centre, Vidhyadharapuram, Sitara Junction, Milk Project, Chitti Nagar, Brahmin Street.
Already denizens residing in these areas are witnessing heavy vehicular traffic due to diversion as the road near Kankadurga temple is congested the flyover construction works.
Expressing his concern over the bad roads, V Anjaneyulu, merchant at I Town said ‘I am scared of passing through the One Town, where roads are full of traffic congestion. Officials are not even providing alternate routes for the Bhavani devotees who may face several problems during the Giri Pradakshina.”
Meanwhile, majority of the devotees coming by walk from Visakhapatnam, East and West Godavari districts who reached the city on Wednesday are also expressing dissatisfaction with the lack of drinking water supply at major centers and shelter for sleeping during the nights near the Indrakeeladri hill.
However, speaking to The Hans India, Temple EO Ch Narasing Rao said that temple authorities have made foolproof arrangements for the Bhavani deeksha relinquishment with an estimated cost of Rs 4 crore. Already the VMC officials have made the road near toll gate ready for Giri Pradakshina.
Nearly 600 NSS students were deployed by the temple authorities to supply drinking water for the devotees during their walk.
Admitting the fact of traffic congestion near Chitti Nagar and Vidhyadharapuram areas, he urged the Bhavani devotees to take part in the Giri Pradakshina during the night time to avoid traffic congestion.
