Journalists launch protests

Anantapur: The district unit of the AP Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) on Wednesday launched hunger strike at RDO’s office here to protest the government’s indifferent attitude to implement its promises on health cards and accreditations.
The fast was led by Macha Ramalinga Reddy, district unit president. Journalists took out a rally from the Press Club to Potti Sriramulu’s statue and garlanded it. Representatives of people’s organisations and parties supported the fast. Reddy said the government should issue GOs on its promises.
Demonstrations in all mandals today The APUWJ called for demonstrations on December 31 in all mandals and burning of effigies of Ministers Palle Raghunath Reddy and Kamineni Srinivas.
