Rajahmundry: Chairman of Civil Supplies Corporation, M Linga Reddy asserted that the Public Distribution System (PDS) would be strengthened and steps would be taken to provide ration for the people. He conducted a review meeting on the distribution of essential goods with the ration depot dealers and rice mill owners in Rajahmundry on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, Linga Reddy said that the essential commodities distribution is going through e-POS system and the State tops in its implementation. He informed that action plan is being formulated to sanction 2.20 lakh gas connections in East Godavari district, He maintained that stage is set to distribute 14 lakh ration cards in the State and 1.37 lakh ration cards are going to be distributed in the East Godavari from January 2.

Linga Reddy said that 5.90 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been purchased through paddy purchase centers in the district, in order to provide remunerative price for the farmers and 3.10 lakh tones have been milled. He mentioned that Rs 600 crore has been paid to farmers as remunerative price in the district by purchasing paddy. He maintained that civil supplies warehouses would be built in the district and NTR canteens would be set up soon. Joint Collector S Satyannarayana also spoke.
