Hyderabad: Thousands of students from Andhra Pradesh who aspire for appearing in KCET will be at loss as the dates of AP Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Entrance Test (Eamcet) and Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) are clashing.

AP Human Resource Development Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao announced that Eamcet will be held on May 5. The Karnataka Examinations Authority has also scheduled KCET from May 4 to 6.

Initially, the Karnataka government had scheduled to hold the exams from May 1 to 3 but since they were clashing with dates of All-India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental dates, the KEA revised KCET to May 4 to May 6.

As a result, thousands of students from Andhra Pradesh who appear for KCET exams for admissions into MBBS, BDS, B Tech, B Arch etc will have to choose any one of them.

Though similar problem arose last year, the Andhra Pradesh government then had re-scheduled the AP Eamcet dates but now the government said it would not change the dates. Speaking to The Hans India, a senior official of the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) said AP had announced its dates much before Karnataka.

Last year, he said, they had changed the dates as the AP government had announced dates after the Karnataka had released the schedule. This year, the AP government had announced the dates much ahead of Karnataka. They should have taken into account the problems students from AP would face if the dates clash, the senior official stated
