Photo: Ch Venkata  Mastan‘Chronic Pain (CP) Relief Wand’, a product that works to neuro modulation technology intended for management of chronic pain related conditions of the nerve, muscle and arthritic disorders was launched at the Indian Medical Association (IMA) hall by neurologist and sleep medicine physician at Missouri, USA Dr M Krishna Kanth and Managing director of Andhra Hospitals Dr P V Ramana Murthy.

Addressing the media on Sunday, Krishna Kanth who was involved in the research and development of the Relief Wand said, “This medical device was invented in pursuit of need driven with lack of effective treatment options for chronic pain conditions and to find alternative solution to manage and mitigate disabling chronic pain related conditions. This is powerful enough to relieve moderate to severe pain within minutes in a non-pharmaceutical manner, safely and naturally.”

It is a convenient tool that is also cost-effective. The wand which is American patented and approved by FDI is being sold for $500 in the USA. “With the help of Andhra Hospitals, we are organising a free demonstration and administration of the wand on patients. There are a number of inquiries about the product that runs with the help of a battery,” said Dr Rama Kanth.

Dr P V Ramana Murthy said that the wand has shown to be effective either primarily or as an adjunctive management for pain and discomfort due to back pain, restless legs syndrome, fibromyalgia, diabetic painful neuropathy, arthritis, post traumatic pain, sports related injuries and post surgical pains besides muscle spasms, strains and etc. “The wand developed by Mid-America Medical Innovations would be made available for Rs 20,000 in the State within a month,” they said.
