Krishnaveni Creations, a cultural and literary organisation in association with Rotary Club of Vijayawada will organise ‘Sankranti Sobha’ at Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College on January 11.

Photo: Ch Venkata Mastan Krishnaveni Creations, a cultural and literary organisation in association with Rotary Club of Vijayawada will organise ‘Sankranti Sobha’ at Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College on January 11. A oster about the event was released by the founder secretary of the organisation B Jaya Prakash, along with veteran journalist Turlapati Kutumba Rao on Tuesday.

Talking to the newsmen on the occasion, Turlapati Kutumba Rao said that ‘Sankranti Sobha’ will provide a great opportunity for artistes in enlightening the present generation youth about the prominence of traditional forms which are being extinct in the busy modern day life.

Giving a detailed structure of the event, Krishnaveni Creations founder secretary B Jaya Prakash said that as part of the celebrations kite flying, rangoli, traditional dish cooking, traditional dress competitions would be conducted at the venue. There will be special performances by folk artistes, Haridas and Kuchipudi dance shows, he said. The quintessential ritual of Bhogi Pallu (Indian cherries) would be showered on children in the evening, he added.

Jaya Prakash added that ‘Sri Krishna Parijatham’ Kuchipudi dance ballet by Padma Sri Sobha Naidu group will be the highlight of the event. Felicitation would be also conducted to the renowned Kuchipudi exponent on the occasion, he said. The Rotary Club of Vijayawada president M V Suresh Kumar and member NSRK Prasad were also present on the occasion.
