Andhra Pradesh Major Temples Employees’ Welfare Association has withdrawn its proposed dharmas which are slated from January 9 to 11. Earlier, the association decided to stall all Arjitha Sevas from January 18 in all major temples protesting against the government’s recent controversial GOs.

Earlier, the association decided to stall all Arjitha Sevas from January 18 in all major temples protesting against the government’s recent controversial GOs.

However, the association put off the protests following the issuance of GO Ms No 13 by In-charge Principal Secretary of Endowments Ajeya Kallam on Friday keeping all controversial GOs in abeyance until further orders.

Association president DVS Rama Raju said here on Saturday said that the employees of endowment department after sensing peril to the service rules and to the future of temples with the recent GOs, convened a convention in Rajahmundry on October 11 last to have a detailed discussion.

Later, memoranda were submitted to the Endowment Minister and Chief Secretary, endowment department, raising objections to the GOs 337, 927, 419, 420, 424 and 426 issued to dilute the temple administration.

With an aim to protect the temples in the State, they submitted memoranda seeking action failing which they have threatened to stage protests. Responding to the strike notice served on January 5, In-charge Principal Secretary of Endowment Department Ajey Kallam has issued another GO keeping all controversial GOs in abeyance until further orders as the GOs were issued without the knowledge of the Commissioner.

It was assured that all objections raised by the endowment staff would be discussed with the respective temple executive officers and other issues would be discussed with the Chief Minister and the Endowment Minister.
