Spiritual books attract new generation readers

Religious books are not things of the past anymore. A glance at the number of visitors at the spiritual book stalls set up at the ongoing book festival proves so. The book festival got a lot of appreciation and an overwhelming response from youngsters and senior citizens of the city.

The book stall organisers seem to be happy about the change in trends. Another feature of this year’s book festival is the number of stalls offering religious and soul feeding books for followers of Hinduism, Christianity and Islam religions.

SK Irfan, an engineering student from Arundalpet said, “I noticed that there was a stall on Islamic works during the last year's book festival. This time, I found out there are two stalls. I bought a few books from the stalls and feel that the book festival only gets better by the year.”

More than 20 stalls among 230 others are offering spiritual books and books on art of living techniques. From Bhagavadgitha to Valmiki Ramayana,Puripanda Ramayanam, Lalitha Vishnu Sahasranamam, Jathakamarthandam, Jyothishya Vidya Prakasitham, Vaasthu Guna Prakasika, Charakasamhitha, Islamic literature, Quran translations, Bibles, books about saints, praise and worship books, and reference albums of holy locations were offered at these stalls.

Jeevandhara Book Center, Isha Foundation, Rama Krishna Mission, Telugu Islamic Publications Trust, Viswa Sphoorthi Dhyan Gnan Marg, Yogada Sathsanga Dhyana Kendra, Rushi Peetham, Universal Islamic Research Center, Sri Guru Raghavendra Publications, Saraswati Publications, Yogada Sashtanga Society of India, Sivadananda Subhatha Publications are a few of the stalls that offer spiritual literature.

Besides these stalls offering the deep rooted books on spirituality, on the contrast there are stalls that are promoting scientific temper, awareness on science and reasoning like Jana Vignana Vedika, Shravya Educational Aides and etc.
