Rich tributes were paid to Swami Vivekananda in the city on Tuesday on his 153rd birth anniversary, which is being observed as National Youth Day. Former MLA and BJP City leader Vellampalli Srinivas, along with BJYM State Vice president Chikkala Rajini Kanth garlanded the statue on the premises of Raghavaiah Park.

Speaking on the occasion, Vellampalli Srinivas said that youth should render social service and further, national integration with discipline and patriotic spirit. He recalled Vivekananda's words that youth with an iron body and will were essential for the nation. He urged the youth to tread the path taken by Vivekananda and adhere to his ideals, which projected India in the West as the spiritual destination of the world.

Meanwhile, Chikkala Rajini Kanth said India's future was in the hands of the youth. Taking inspiration from Vivekananda, who did the nation proud in the comity of nations, the youth should strive hard for all-round development of the country, he said.
