The cultural organisation, in association with Rotary Club, organised `Sankranti Sobha' at Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College in the city on Monday. Srikrishna Parijatham ballet presented by eminent Kuchipudi exponent Sobha Naidu and her troupe was the highlight of the event.

Sobha Naidu played the role of Satyabhama with elegance and the ballet was really absorbing. Her disciples Sai Sivaranjani, Silpi and Yamini regaled the audience with their classical dance recitals. Bhogi Manta was lit at the venue.

The essence of bonfire tradition is one needs to shun vices and the burning desire for worldly pleasures to gain everlasting knowledge and wisdom. Gangireddulu, Butta Bommalu, Dappu, fancy dress and other traditional events were organised as part of Sankranti Sobha, creating a feeling among audience that the harvesting festival descended on the venue well in advance.

At the end of festivities, Sobha Naidu was honoured with the title `Kuchipudi Parijatham’. MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao, veteran journalist Turlapati Kutumba Rao, Andhra Bank DGM GSV Krishna Rao, Andhra Pradesh head of operations for The Hans India and HMTV CV Ramana, Krishnaveni Creations founder B Jayaprakash, president Madugula Ramakrishna and others were present on the occasion.
