Commercial establishments like entertainment centers and shopping malls have jumped in at the opportunity to create an ambiance like that of a Sankranthi observed at the rural parts of the State. The citizens who visited these places experienced the village culture and dwelled in celebrations that had huts, rangolis, gobbemalu, and other such experiences that are usually a miss in today’s concrete jungle.

True spirit of the Sankranthi festival was brought to life at these sprawling establishments which had made it a point to decorate the entire place with flying kites, clay pots, thatched houses with golden yellow grass, a complete village like set up in middle of the malls such that the visitors have an experience of the festival . They also organised a few games and activities to indulge the visitors and awarded them with exciting prizes.

A kite making workshop was held at a famous mall in the city on Thursday for the children under 11 years of age. They were provided with material for free and a craft teacher was roped especially for the activity. The organisers also gave them some material to take home for further creation. Mall’s marketing manager Pramod talking to The Hans India said, “We make sure to celebrate every possible festival in our place because it connects a lot with the visitors.

The ambiance is made up according to themes and new decorative ideas are implemented. This is an attempt to stay close to people and customers who click pictures and save as memories’’. Meanwhile, clubs and resorts along with hotels have arranged special buffets and offered Sankranthi snacks for the visitors. Sweet shops were in full swing as they are burdened with preparation of traditional festival food items. For the working community, they are offering readymade sweets like Chakrapongali, Palathalikalu, Purnalu, Ariselu, Gavvalu amongst others.
