The 30th Annual Sports meet organised by the Bharat Yuvajana Sangham, kicked started on a grand note at Penamakuru village of Thotlavalluru Mandal in Krishna District on Thursday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Administration), Vijayawada, GVG Ashok Kumar participated as chief guest for the meet and launched a signature campaign against gambling and cockfights in Penamakuru Village.

Speaking on the occasion, Ashok Kumar stated that the age-old tradition is good to conserve our heritage and culture. He said people must move with the changing time and stop illegal activities such as cockfighting, playing cards, and gambling during the Sankranti festival season.

He also lauded the initiative of the youth welfare organisation for conducting such good activity and called upon the youngsters to take up the responsibility of curbing these illegal activities in the villages.

Meanwhile, Youth turned in large numbers and participated in Kabaddi, shuttle, rangoli, chess, running and musical chairs competitions for women and children. Thotlavalluru Sub Inspector Prasad and villagers took part in the meet.
