Railway engineers stage dharna
A massive dharna was staged by employees of South Central Railway Engineers Association (SCREA) behind the DRMs office here on Wednesday urging the management to accord standard designation for Junior Engineer and Assistant Engineer with grade pay of Rs 5,400 and Rs 6,600 respectively.
Vijayawada: A massive dharna was staged by employees of South Central Railway Engineers Association (SCREA) behind the DRM’s office here on Wednesday urging the management to accord standard designation for Junior Engineer and Assistant Engineer with grade pay of Rs 5,400 and Rs 6,600 respectively.
Addressing the gathering, SCREA Divisional Secretary Ravula Satyam said that the Junior Engineer(JE)/Senior Section Engineers(SSE) of Railways are termed as backbone for the management as they are directly involved in the safe, secure and punctual running of train services up to 4th Pay commission.
JE /SSEs of Railways were in the highest placed in Group ‘C’. But when the 5th Pay commission was being implemented, the railway engineers were neglected and all other non-core, non-safety categories were upgraded.
The other demands of the union include recognition to All India Railway Engineer Federation as recommended by Khanna Committee, implementation of assured promotions to graduate engineers recruited as SSEs and time bound promotion for all the Railway Engineers from JE level to Junior Administrative Grade Officer, assured promotions to Graduate Engineers recruited as SSE and time bound promotion for all the Railway Engineers from JE level to Junior Administrative Grade Officer.
