Smriti Irani, Bandaru should step down
Demanding the resignation of Union ministers Smriti Irani and Bandaru Dattatreya, who are facing flak from several quarters for allegedly driving the research scholar at University of Hyderabad to commit suicide, former Amalapuram MP GV Harsha Kumar staged “Mouna Deeksha” here on Wednesday.
Amalapuram: Demanding the resignation of Union ministers Smriti Irani and Bandaru Dattatreya, who are facing flak from several quarters for allegedly driving the research scholar at University of Hyderabad to commit suicide, former Amalapuram MP GV Harsha Kumar staged “Mouna Deeksha” here on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, he demanded that there should a thorough probe into the incident and guilty should be brought to book. Failing which, he said there would be several protests across the country. While lamenting over increasing suicides of Dalits in higher education institutions, he lambasted the saffron brigade for trying to carry out propaganda that Rohit Vemula was not a Dalit.
The former MP also demanded that the Centre immediately sack UoH vice-chancellor to bring justice to the family of the deceased Dalit scholar.
