With world relatively becoming a small place and capital status in tow, city is now witnessing massive lifestyle changes that are having an impact on the buying behavior of the public as well as the economy.

Earlier, there were only a couple of textile showrooms that ruled the roost in the city functioning majorly from Besant Road. Though One Town market is known for its variety and choice at a single place, one should accept to the fact that the clothing segment was commercialized under retail on the Besant Road alone.

Later, those who earned profits from it have opened up their branches on MG Road, bringing a change in the design and that of the price for them. Of late, one can experience the fresh sight of international brands making their way into the city to cater to the educated young.

Louis Philippe, Indian terrain, turtle, Calvin Klein, Marks and Spencer’s, Indigo Nation, Black Berry, United Colors of Benetton, Nike, Reebok, Tommy Hilfiger, Flying Machine, USPA, Basics were a few of the brands that were new entrants in the city market.

They chose to market their stuff at places like malls and shopping complexes where, the affordable class visits. Retail chains like Lifestyle, Max, Pantaloons, Globus are already a hit among the shoppers who look out for fresh seasonal and trendy collection.

Local showrooms like Kalanikethan, Kalamandir, Manhar and Chandana Brothers had expanded vastly along all possible corners of the city. Citizens who are used to spend whopping amount on globally popular brands are also treated to a customised costume making experience through boutiques.

The gaining factor for the franchises is that they lure teenagers and youngsters who are exposed to fashions with mass media. They offer seasonal discounts on the products, which is another factor that attracts majority of the brand loyalists.

‘’Brands define your personality. They not just offer classy look and perfect fit but are also for keeps. Investing on them is not going to be dead .Buying brands on discount is the same as you buy it normally but at the better price’’, said K John, an M Tech student.
