Chief Ministers of the two States accused of using the water as they wish and doing grave injustice to Rayalaseema

Atmakur: The ‘Dasa Disa’ people’s forum programme organised in Kurnool on Saturday by HMTV under the leadership of Lok Satta national leader and former IAS officer Dr Jayaprakash Narayan evoked a good response and proved to be a grand success.

Speakers observed that development of Rayalaseema depended on its statehood. Slogans calling for agitation to achieve statehood for the region before the next elections were raised from the podium itself. They expressed the view that development of Rayalaseema also depended on the water allocation to the Srisailam project.

The speakers demanded statehood for Rayalaseema so as to improve the irrigation facilities, to remove unemployment problem and for securing funds for the pending projects. They accused the Chief Ministers of the two States of using the water as they wished and doing grave injustice to Rayalaseema.

They demanded to know what was done by the rulers with regard to irrigation, agriculture, education and industries and investments during the last 63 years. Addressing the gathering, at Mega City Function Hall, comprising students and political activists, intellectuals supported the demand for Rayalaseema State, while describing Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy as ‘Rayalaseema traitors’.

Among the participants were Kurnool and Nandikotkur MLAs SV Mohan Reddy, Izaiah, Rayalaseema Intellectual Forum representative Arun, DCC vice-president BY Ramayya, and representatives of several farmers’ organisations.
