Ropeway car snaps, tourists safe

Visakhapatnam: Six tourists including three women and two children escaped with minor injuries, when the Ropeway Car (cable car) in which they were travelling from the foothills of Kailasagiri to a top of Kailasagiri on Sunday, snapped.

As the incident happened at the foothills, the cable car fell from a height of six feet, leaving tourists with minor injuries. Eyewitnesses alleged that the mishap was due to the poor maintenance of the cable cars and if it had occurred atop of the Kailasagiri, it could be the major mishap.

“All the six tourists, natives of Hyderabad, who came for IFR were admitted in a private hospital and their condition is stable,” said Vuda Vice Chairman T Baburao Naidu.
