Vijayawada: Alleging that opposition parties particularly the YSRCP was trying to damage the brand AP image by encouraging “lumpen” elements to indulge in violence on sensitive issues without any reason, Naidu said he would handle the law and order situation firmly and at the same time he was ready to start a dialogue with Mudragada Padmanabham on the efforts the government was making to include Kapus in BC category.
Stressing upon the need for a debate among people on the violence at Tuni during Kapu Garjana and on the attitude of YSRCP leaders, Naidu said a cabinet meeting would be convened and thereafter the issue would be discussed with elders in the Kapu community to create confidence among them. The Chief Minister appealed to Mudragada to understand the sincere efforts of the government to include Kapus in the BC category.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that the TDP government is committed to include Kapus in BC category and trying to fulfill the promise as per the constitutional procedure. He said that he has the highest regard towards Kapus as they had always supported the TDP which had won 20 seats out of 21 in West Godavari district and 100 per cent seats in East Godavari district during ’99 elections.
Speaking to media persons here on Monday night, the Chief Minister questioned why the Congress and YSRCP leaders failed to raise the issue of Kapus for the past 23 years. He said that the TDP has commitment towards Kapus and appointed a commission to include them in BC list as per the constitutional process. He appealed to Kapu community to understand his commitment towards the community.
Condemning the allegations of YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on TDP, the CM said that some trained anti-social elements created problem during Kapu Garjana at Tuni. As a result of the violence a panic situation was created. He warned that the government would not keep quiet if Pulivendula rowdies create law and order problem in other districts.
