A 52-year-old man belonging to the Kapu community committed suicide near the Collectorate here on Monday  allegedly on the reservation issue. The deceased was identified as Cheekatla Venkataramana Murthy, a resident of Rajiv Gruhakalpa Housing Colony at dairy farm centre here, allegedly hanged himself to an antenna at Bennett Club buildings. He is survived by his wife and two children.

The deceased was identified as Cheekatla Venkataramana Murthy, a resident of Rajiv Gruhakalpa Housing Colony at dairy farm centre here, allegedly hanged himself to an antenna at Bennett Club buildings. He is survived by his wife and two children.

According to sources, a suicide note, purportedly written by Venkataramana, was found in his trousers’ pocket. In the note, it was stated that he was resorting to the extreme step as he was not sure whether the government would include Kapus in BC list. The note also questioned Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan for keeping mum on Kapu quota.
