Vijayawada: The state government which is making all out efforts to defuse the proposed fast by the Kapu leader Mudragadda Padmanabham held a meeting with Kapu ministers and leaders of some Kapu organisations.
The Kapu leaders suggested that the government should immediately release Rs 2000 crore for the Kapu Corporation and ensure that the Manjunath commission submits its report within three to five months instead of nine months time given earlier.
Kapu leaders led by T Ramesh Naidu, national president of Kapu Nadu and Pilla Venkateswara Rao, state president said the government had promised to release Rs 1000 crore every year and release of Rs 100 crore had given scope for several doubts among the community.
Hence, it should make its intentions that it was committed to implement the promise made in the manifesto by releasing Rs 1,900 crore immediately. They asked the CM to clear all the 45,000 applications pending with Kapu Corporation and provide subsidy on par with SC, STs. The meeting which remained inconclusive would be convened again on Wednesday.
However, Kapu leaders said that the Chief Minister sounded positive and that he would implement the promise without causing any problem for the BCs and also in a manner where there would be no legal hurdles. They told the media that the Chief Minister reiterated that the government was committed to provide BC reservation for Kapus and would take all necessary measures once the Manjunath commission submits its report. He appealed to Kapu leaders to cooperate with the government and not give scope for violence as it would damage the reputation of the community.
Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister N Chinarajappa, Minister P Narayana and TDP state president Kala Venkata Rao held discussions with leaders of Kapu associations at CM camp office here on Tuesday. Kapu association leaders including Pilla Venkateswara Rao, Bandaru Satyananda Rao, Kapu Corporation chairman Chalamalasetti Ramanujeya and others participated in the meeting.
