Police foil Kapus protest
Police forcibly evicted Kapu leaders, who staged a dharna and relay fast in support of Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham at the Collectorate here on Saturday. Guntur: Police forcibly evicted Kapu leaders, who staged a dharna and relay fast in support of Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham at the Collectorate here on Saturday. Local Kapu leaders K Manohar Naidu and K Rosaiah led the protests and addressed Kapu sympathisers who gathered in large numbers. Police forcibly evicted the specially erected tent and platform and arrested the agitators and sent them to various police stations in the city.
After detaining them till afternoon at the police stations, they were released from police custody. Various people's organisations and political parties condemned the police action and the dictatorial attitude of the government. One M Padmanabham, a Kapu leader sat on an indefinite hunger strike but was removed from the tent by the police.
