Eluru: Two unidentified robbers decamped with cash, gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 20 lakh after threatening a 60-year-old woman at Alla Nani Colony in Chataparru Road of Eluru Rural mandal on Saturday.

According to the police, Kollipara Hemalakshmi Sarasa Kumari was living in her own building in Alla Nani Colony. While her two sons are in America, her daughter is in Hyderabad. As her husband died long ago, she is living alone on the first floor of the building.

She rented the ground floor and penthouse to others. On Friday midnight, two unknown persons opened the main door of the first floor by removing the hasp through the nearby window. Hemalakshmi woke up and came into the living room.

The two unknown persons threatened and tied her with a rope. Later, they took the keys from her. After that, they opened the almirah and robbed Rs four lakh in cash, 40 sovereigns of gold ornaments, two kilograms of silver articles and fled.

After some time, Hemalakshmi managed to loosen the ropes and told the matter to the tenants. They complained about the robbery to Eluru Rural police. The Rural Circle Inspector, Adapa Naga Murali, Sub-Inspector N Kishore Babu along with dog squad, Clues Team reached the spot. A case was registered. Investigation is on.
