Dalit leaders perform Palabhishekham to Ambedkar statue
Leaders of Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) and YSR Congress Party performed ‘Palabhishekham’ to the statue of Dr BR Ambedkar near Tumallapalli Kalashektram in the city on Wednesday, as a mark of purification in response to the derogatory comments made by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu insulting the Dalit community.
Vijayawada: Leaders of Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) and YSR Congress Party performed ‘Palabhishekham’ to the statue of Dr BR Ambedkar near Tumallapalli Kalashektram in the city on Wednesday, as a mark of purification in response to the derogatory comments made by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu insulting the Dalit community.
Speaking on the occasion, APCC general secretary Meesala Rajeswara Rao alleged that Chandrababu had insulted the Dalits and it is shameful on his part for being the Chief Minister of the State for uttering derogatory comments against Dalits.
Public apology should be tendered by the Chief Minister to the Dalits over the issue, he demanded. Meanwhile, YSR Congress Party MLA Uppleti Kalapana criticised that the Chief Minister has insulted the Dalit community with his comments. All the Dalit leaders in the Telugu Desam Party should feel ashamed about this and quit their posts and join the protests, she demanded.
City Congress president Malladi Vishnu, PCC Spokesperson Kolanukonda Shivaji, Krishna District YSR Congress Party SC Cell president Kalle Pulla Rao and other leaders were also present on the occasion.
