Hyderabad: The State government is all set to make Kondapalli Fort in Krishna district as one among the top tourist destinations in the State. For this, the government has sanctioned Rs 10.9 crore on Thursday for taking up first phase of works.

The works would be taken up as part of the Comprehensive Development of Kondapalli Fort Project (CDKFP). The project envisions development of greenery, beautification of surroundings, laying of approach road to the fort and accommodation facilities for the tourists.

The project would also have a promotional component to pitch the Kondapalli Fort as one among the major tourist destinations in the State, and a ropeway project has already been proposed at the site.

The State Directorate of Archaeology and Museums had submitted a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the project in December last year. And, this has been followed up with appointing a four-member committee to scrutinize the proposed project.

In turn, the sub-committee has made its recommendations on taking up the restoration and conservation measures.
