Guntur: TDP leader and former MLC Nannapaneni Rajakumari is on a new job as she took oath as chairperson of the Andhra Pradesh Women’s Commission at Vignan Mandir hall here on Wednesday. Rajakumari promised to tour all the 13 districts in the State and interact with women in distress and all stakeholders to acquaint herself with the problems faced by women in their domestic life as well as in society and ensure justice to all hapless victims.

She said that she would also look into the cases filed during the undivided AP period and said that members will be appointed for the commission soon to function on a full-fledged basis. The AP Women Commission chairperson regretted that majority of the cases filed are by women against women including daughter-in-laws against mother-in-laws etc.

She called upon women to change their attitude and stop working at cross purposes. Home Minister Nimmakayala Chinarajappa assured women that the government meant business when it comes to women's issues.

He said the late NTR was instrumental in giving property rights to women and even political representation in legislative bodies and said even Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is committed to financial empowerment of women and recalled new laws implemented for safety of women in the State.

Assembly Speaker Kodela advised the government to be firm with regard to protecting interests of women and rendering justice to them in their legal battles. Woman and Child Welfare Minister P Sujatha said that Nannapaneni Rajakumari deserved the post as she is well-versed with women's problems and has a history of fighting for women's causes.
