Amaravati: Transport department will introduce online services for vehicle registration, road tax payment, vehicle ownership transfer, endorsements and others. While the Telangana government has introduced online services in transport department for 28- services, the State government decided to step-up a notch by providing more than 80 services through online in a phased manner.

The new system is likely to be introduced within two months, in Vijayawada, Vizag and one or two other cities on pilot basis. And, basing on the feedback the services will be doled out to other districts. It is learnt that the transport Commissioner N Balasubramaniam will discuss about the services to be offered online with Minister for Transport Sidda Raghava Rao and finalise the same.

The government is preparing new software to introduce online services including vehicle registration from the dealer point and same software will be sent to district offices soon. Speaking to The Hans India, Minister for Transport Sidda Raghava Rao confirmed that services will be made online shortly and hoped that the new system will mitigate hassles.

Once the services are made online, the vehicle owners may avail them through their smart phones. Those who are not having smart phones may avail the services through E-Seva and Mee Seva centres. In the new system, road tax may be paid through their credit card and the vehicle owners need not wait in the queue for long hours before the transport department offices.

The transport department officials stated that this system will eliminate middle man and reduce the work load on the staff. Senior official of transport department K Krishnaiah said, “The government will introduce online system within two months. More than 80 services will be made online. Consumers may get the services through smart phones too. Vehicle registrations will be made from dealer point.”
