Tirupati: The Congress party in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council (APLC) will press for a discussion on two major scams involving Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and his son Nara Lokesh for action on the father and son duo, said its floor leader C Ramachandraiah.

Speaking to media here on Monday, Ramachandraiah said that the Congress MLCs will meet the APLC Chairman, seeking him to get the details including records pertaining to the multi-crore scams for placing them before the House for a debate.

The Congress leader alleged that in a pre-planned move the estimates of 25 pending irrigation projects were revised, under the pretext of cost escalation, at the behest of Chandrababu Naidu. He alleged that the total cost of these pending projects increased to the tune of Rs 15,600 crore to benefit Naidu and his son.

He said that the irrigation authorities instead of taking action on the contractors responsible for the delay causing huge lose to the exchequer due to pressure from the Chief Minister, they rewarded erring contractors by allowing them to do the work with enhanced cost.

Ramachandraiah alleged irregularities took place in the tenders for APGenco Solar Power projects proposed in Tadipatri. In order to benefit some private developers at the behest of the Chief Minister, the authorities fixed the rate for each mega watt solar power production at Rs 6.26 crore in the tenders which is higher than the prevailing rate in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan where for similar projects the rate was fixed at Rs 4.75 crore.

He warned that the Congress members will not allow the Council proceedings if the Chairman did not get the details of the irrigation projects and solar power plants and placed it in the APLC for discussion. The Congress leader also said that his party will also petition to the Central Vigilance Commission and CBI for an enquiry into these irregularities.

He alleged that TDP national general secretary Lokesh acting as an extra constitutional authority and said that Naidu handed over the government to his son.

Taking a dig at Naidu and his son, he said that TDP became near extinct after Chandrababu Naidu handed the Telangana party unit to his son and added sarcastically that ‘we did’ not know what will be the fate of AP government. Tirupati city Congress president Nagabhushanam was also present.
