Speaking at the inaugural session of the Symposium on ‘State Youth Policy’ organised by the Department of Youth Services at Andhra Loyola College here on Tuesday, MC Das said by 2020, India is set to become the world’s youngest country with 77 crore of its population in the working age group.

Highlighting the importance of education, he said it was education that ensured all-round development of a nation and brought prosperity. The educational institutions work like heart to energies all components of the society they should work towards providing quality education and skill development among the students, which is the need of the hour, he said.

The Management Consultant said that hardly 20 per cent of our graduates are job-ready. In this context, skill enhancement becomes vital. He appealed the State Government to establish youth guidance centres at each district headquarters under the supervision of NGO’s and educational institutions to improve employability skills among the youth.

Ramakrishna Mission member Swami Vivyanandha underlined the need of improving skills among the youth to achieve success in the chosen field. “Time has come to follow value-based educational methods which will build character among the young minds”, he said.

The Mission was also operating mobile value education unit named ‘Vivekh Vahini’ to prepare the ideology of Swami Vivekanandha among the youth at various educational institutions across the State, he said.

Andhra Loyola College Principal Fr GAP Kishore, Former MP Chennupati Vidya, District Youth Welfare Officer K Mohan Kumar, Nehru Yuva Kendram coordinator A Siva Kumar, faculty from ANU, lecturers, members from Bharma Kumari Samaj and NGO’s also took part in the symposium.
