Kakinada: The BJP has now got another reason to fume at its alliance partner TDP. Of late, the saffron brigade is of the view that the TDP is following a pattern to claim all Central schemes as its own while making it a non-player.

The BJP leaders have instances to validate their allegations. They argue that funds for industrial development, distribution of LED lamps to all households is being given by Narendra Modi government, but the credit is being enjoyed by the State government.

There is a deep seated feeling among the BJP cadre that the TDP is using Central schemes to its advantage, completely ignoring the role of the Centre.

More importantly, they point out how they are getting raw deal in enjoying credit vis-à-vis special package given to the tune of Rs 60,000 crore in the last 18 months, funds for development of ports, allocation of hardware park to Kakinada, allotment of institutes of national repute to AP, allotment of 1.94 lakh houses under AMRUT scheme and LPG connections under central scheme are some of the issues.

The BJP leaders said that the TDP leaders hijacked the housing scheme of Congress Indira Awaas Yojana and named it as NTR Housing Scheme. They alleged that AMRUT scheme selections were entrusted with Janma Bhoomi Committees of TDP though they have no role to play in the Central schemes.

They also alleged that under free supply of LPG with cent per cent subsidy, the AP government combined it with Deepam scheme and no mention of Union government’s role in the entire activity though Rs 1,800 is being paid towards subsidy per connection.

The East Godavari BJP district president Yenimireddy Malakondareddy (Malakondaiah) said that the State government had neither mentioned the role of NDA government nor gave credit to it.

“So, we have decided to observe watch dog policy in implementation of all union government schemes henceforth,” he said.

He said the party is organising the State-level meet on February 16 in Rajahmundry. He said BJP national president Amit Shah will address a public meet in Rajahmundry on March 6, to inform the public about the details of extension of central aid to AP.

Malakondayya also observed that this would be their first attempt to strengthen the party in Andhra Pradesh for the ensuing 2019 polls.
