Rajahmundry: Road-cum-rail bridge (RCRB) between Rajamundry and Kovvuru is going to get permanent illumination by the end of March. The decision was taken in the meeting headed by Tourism Commissioner Rajendraprasad Khajjuria in Rajahmundry on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, district Collector H Arun Kumar said that state government had already released Rs1.05 crore to set up permanent lighting on 4.3-km length on RCRB. He recalled that temporary lighting was set up during Godavari Pushkarams and the Chief Minister has suggested for the permanent lighting on the bridge.

He directed the officials to fix LED bulbs all along the road and asked the Municipal Corporation of Rajahmundry to pay the bill.

The designs were approved at Tuesday’s meeting with Tourism Commissioner Rajendraprasad Khajjuria, Municipal Corporation Commissioner V Vijayarama Raju and Roads and Buildings Superintendent Engineer (electrical division) P Harshavardhan at Akhanda Godvavari Project office.

Harshavardhan said that they submitted design for 3-km lighting giving space between two poles with a minimum of 15 meters.

MLA Dr Akula asked the tourism SE to send proposals of convention centre, which is going to come up just opposite to Central Prison.
