Preparations begin for 2019 National Games in Nellore
Nellore will be hosting the National Games in 2019, and the district administration has allotted 150 acres of land at Mogallapalem in Nellore rural mandal, which is around 20 km from the district headquarters for purpose.

It may be recalled that the Indian Olympic Association, which met in Guwahati had decided to hold the event in the State, and Nellore village has been selected for hosting the mega event. The Association had decided to organise the event in Andhra Pradesh after the Uttarakhand Government expressed its inability to host the games. Andhra Pradesh submitted its bid to host the 2019 edition.
Since this would be the first and prestigious sporting event in the truncated State, government has been making extensive arrangements, and 150 acres of land was also identified at Mogallapalem for some events in the district.
