Vijayawada: The State government has been getting ready to open food parks in every district. The State Industries Department asked interested entrepreneurs to apply for food parks before March 17, said Industries chief executive officer Y S Prasad.

The State is in fifth place in the country in the production of milk, vegetables, fruits, meat and prawns. Taking advantage of this, the government proposed food parks to make value-added services and products available in the State, Prasad added.

The new food parks would come up in 50 acres of land in every district with Rs 50 crore subsidy from the government. Similarly, integrated mini food parks are also proposed in 30 acres of land in every district with Rs 20 crore subsidy from the State government.

Prasad said that the details about the proposed food parks have been placed in the government portal apfpsl.com. He further added that they would process and clear all applications within 21 days and begin the process to establish the food parks.
