Yoga therapy clinics at temples soon
Arasavalli, the famous Sun temple, has been selected as one of the 10 temples in the state for promotion of health tourism. The project is being taken up in coordination with the Central government. Srikakulam: Arasavalli, the famous Sun temple, has been selected as one of the 10 temples in the state for promotion of health tourism. The project is being taken up in coordination with the Central government. The Centre has proposed to start yoga therapy centres at Srikakulam, Simhachalam temple in Visakhapatnam, Annavaram in East Godavari, Eluru in West Godavari, Kanakadurga temple at Vijayawada in Krishna district and Venkateswara Swamy temple at Tirumala in Chittoor district as well as in temples in Gunturu, Prakasam and Nellore districts.
The main aim of this pilot project is to start yoga clinics is to promote traditional Indian medicine systems and also to attract more pilgrims. ‘Government proposes to start yoga clinics initially by establishing outpatient dispensaries (OPD) at indentified temples, according to Visakhapatnam regional deputy director (RDD) of AYUSH (Ayurvedic, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Sidha, Homeo) department, K Prasada Rao.
Talking to The Hans India, Rao said as part of the implementation of the project the yoga and naturopathy research wing of the Central government has initiated the exercise from Sun temple at Arasavalli. He said pilgrims and devotees who are suffering from long term illness can utilise services of yoga clinics at temples and if the response from the pilgrims and devotees was encouraging then the government will convert them as in-patient hospitals. Rao further said that place for locating these OPD units at Arasavalli and Simhachalam temples has already been selected by the Endowments department.
