Bhuma, Akhila, Adi, Jaleel give shock to Jagan
Vijayawada: Giving a rude shock to Leader of Opposition Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, four of his party legislators joined the ruling party on Monday. Legislators Bhuma Nagi Reddy, his daughter and Allagadda legislator Akhila Priya, Jammalamadugu legislator Adinarayana Reddy, Vijayawada West legislator Jaleel Khan and YSRCP MLC Narayana Reddy joined the TDP in the presence of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu at his residence on the banks of the Krishna river on Monday evening.
Before admitting the legislators, Chandrababu Naidu held a meeting with the party leaders and gave them assurance on their positions in the party even after admitting their rivals. The Chief Minister met Deputy Chief Minister K E Krishna Murthy, party senior leaders Ramasubba Reddy, Lakshmidevamma, Silpa Mohan Reddy and their supporters at the party office on M G Road.
Ministers K Achannayudu, Ganta Srinivasa Rao and Devineni Umamaheswara Rao also joined the Chief Minister to give assurance to the existing party leaders from Rayalaseema if their rivals were admitted into the party. The Chief Minister is understood to have explained to them on the need to admit the new leaders in the larger interests of the party and State. He assured them of protecting their interests even after the new leaders joined the party.
The ruling TDP took Jaganmohan Reddy’s challenge of toppling this government and paid him with his own coin. The TDP also had credible information about the YSR Congress party’s plan to table a no-confidence motion in the March 5 Assembly sessions and make counter attacks on the treasury benches. In an attempt to pre-empty Jaganmohan Reddy, the TDP acted swiftly and secured four legislators from YSR Congress along with their supporters.
The ruling party leaders are also busy knocking at the doors of the some more YSR Congress legislators before March 5. The TDP is also cleared the route for six more legislators from the YSR Congress in the next one week, including two each from Krishna, Nellore and Kurnool districts, a source said. The TDP leaders, particularly Ministers Achennayudu and Umamaheswara Rao have taken this as a challenge to beat Jaganmohan Reddy by poaching his legislators.
