Vijayawada: ‘The City on Fast Track’ is catching up with other metros with the advent of multiplexes on Mahatma Gandhi Road creating a worldwide trend in cinemas in the capital region. Now it’s turn of the Pandit Nehru Bus Station (PNBS) to entertain the passengers through setting up a miniplex at the arrival block of the terminal.

The APSRTC authorities have come up with this initiative as part of improving their passenger amenities and to augment revenue for the corporation to overcome the debts. The news will excite the film-lovers and passengers who are in sought of entertainment at the place while traveling to long distances.

Speaking to The Hans India on Monday, RTC Krishna Regional Manager P Rama Rao said the mini theatre is being built on 4,356 square feet area on the arrival block of the terminal, with an estimated cost of Rs 1.3 crore. The corporation has entrusted the work to the APIMS India Private Limited. As of now, the construction has been on a brisk pace and works are expected to be completed by mid March and will be open to public before the summer season.

Giving a detailed structure of the project, Rao said the mini digital theatre features two screens each with 130 seating capacity. “We have priced the tickets at Rs 80 and it would definitely enthuse all classes of movie buffs,” he said. The Regional Manager also said the space at the PNBS terminal would be leased out to such activities in the coming days.
