Sahiti Mitrulu, a literary organisation felicitated Volga (Popuri Lalitha Kumari) in a hotel conference hall on Sunday evening after receiving the award from Central Sahitya Academy for this year 2015 for her “Vimukta” short stories.

Sahiti Mitrulu, a literary organisation felicitated Volga (Popuri Lalitha Kumari) in a hotel conference hall on Sunday evening after receiving the award from Central Sahitya Academy for this year 2015 for her “Vimukta” short stories.

While addressing the meeting the president of the function Golla Narayana Rao said that Volga deserves to receive this award for her writings that provoke thought. Deputy speaker Mandali Budha Prasad said that Volga is the only writer who exposed the problems of ladies and also fought for their rights.

Zilla Parishad Chairperson Gadde Anuradha said that the writings of Volga have brought changes in the minds of middle class, especially in ladies. K.S. Lakshman Rao, former MLC said that the writings of Volga will not criticise the male but it support ladies and gives them a sense on how to protect their rights.

Swaroopa rani, Dr Neeraja, Nanduri Rajagopal discussed the spirit of Volga’s works like novels, short stories and translations. Patibandla Rajani, Deputy Speaker Mandali Budha Prasad, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Gadde Anuradha, Akkineni Kutumbarao, Dr. Veera Kakashmi and others participated in the felicitation function.
