Eluru: The CID officials have produced the two main accused in AgriGold deposit scam before District Principal Sessions Judge Court here on Tuesday, as the custody period of CID had elapsed. District Principal Sessions Judge (in-charge) A Hariharanatha Sarma directed the CID officials to remand the accused to district jail.

It may be recalled here that the District Judge had remanded AgriGold Chairman Avva Venkata Rama Rao and Managing Director Avva Venkata Seshu Narayana to CID custody, rejecting the bail plea of the accused on February 17. As the custody period of CID had elapsed, both the accused were produced before the court amid tight security on Tuesday.

The Judge after hearing the case, remanded the accused to district jail. As per the court directions, the CID officials shifted the accused to Eluru Government Hospital for medical checkup. After conducting the tests, the officials led by DSP Vasamsetty Rajagopal shifted the accused to district jail. Meanwhile, a CID team led by Inspector Sharath Kumar took three more accused into CID custody, who were earlier remanded to judicial custody.
