For Redon Satyam K, it is always a concern to depict paintings without using paint brushes. Thus were born his marvellous works which were created using only knife tools and hand technique. ‘Passion of Art’, an exhibition of his works which are largely of abstract art along with contemporary modern paintings is being held at the Cultural Centre of Vijayawada’s Aakriti art gallery.

Speaking to The Hans India on the occasion, Redon, who was supported by the sisters of missionaries since his childhood, started off as a painting teacher, which he still refers to as his favourite profession. My mother does embroidery work on fabric and I used to observe her. I cannot recollect as to how I developed interest in painting and art but I know I had it by default. I was encouraged by MSI sisters when in school.”

When Redon was asked to depict a dream that a MSI sister from Italy had told him, he then came up with the oil painting with knife work and embose technique on canvas which is the biggest among any others in both th Telugu States combined. His work depicting Jesus Christ guiding a peasant to sow seeds across the field which is represented as a globe is largely appreciated by most.

He also tried and succeeded in painting an abstract live with eyes closed. After filling the canvas with color he uses hand techniques to add finishing touches to it. “I want to try something different and so far I was appreciated for my works. For my first painting, I spent two months to conceive the idea I was given. I would like to create a record by painting as many as 10 abstract paintings at a time closing my eyes.

I am looking for anybody who would sponsor my idea. The painters and artists gather at a place and conduct workshops and share their ideas. They paint in groups and interact. Back in the region, there is no such culture. Every artist lives in their zone and does not prefer working on a same project with other artists’’, he observed.

Rendon who believes in teaching says “When I was a student at Kaladarshini, I learned how to teach from my master. If children are guided in the right way, they would create more concepts and try to stand out from the rest.” His works are at display until Sunday at the art gallery. The expo also showcases a few of his best works which he sent for a national level competition.
