Tirupati: Railway Assistant Security Commissioner (Guntakal) Baldehra convened a meeting with the GRP, RPF and Counter Intelligence officials here on Sunday on improving safety measures and security of railway passengers.

Baldehra, who reviewed the security measures, which is in place in Tirupati and Renigunta Junction, urged the officials to strive for the security of passengers both in the railway stations and also in trains. He wanted them to take effective steps to prevent thefts of articles belonging to passengers. In this connection, he sought the authorities to create awareness on the railway helpline 182, which would go a long way in improving the passenger services, particularly with regard to safety and security at railway stations and also in the trains.

Assistant security commissioner directed the RPF and GRP to conduct awareness meeting in association with the local railway authorities on 182 to help the passengers get prompt response from the concerned. Creating awareness among the passengers on helpline 182 will enable them to report any incidents, including thefts, mishaps, missing persons or any other help, required by them in case of emergency. RPF inspector Nagarjun Rao and others attended the meeting.
