Need to develop scientific temper emphasised

The APCOST Regional Science Center located at Bhavanipuram observed the National Science Day on Wednesday by organizing essay writing, poster presentation and quiz competitions to the students of various municipal schools.

Speaking on the occasion, APCOST Regional Science Center in-charge officer J Dhilleswara Rao emphasized the need to develop scientific temper and inculcate spirit of inquiry among the students while framing their curriculum.

He opined that scientific exhibitions are the right platform to eliminate fear from the minds of the students and make them think scientifically. He wanted the students to develop positive mindset and pursue basic science which has great scope for innovation and offers various career options for the students in the upcoming years.

Dhilleswara Rao said that RSC from its establishment in the city had been celebrating National Science Day by conducting competitions for students in drawing, models and seminar on specific topics. “This year, about 170 students have participated in the science competitions from various schools,” he added.

Later, he distributed certificates to the students participated in the scientific competitions conducted by the RSC as part of the National Science Day celebrations. Teachers and other faculty members were also present on the occasion.
