More than 50 women have enrolled their names to undergo the vocational training programme. Participating as chief guest for the inaugural session, Canara Bank deputy general manager BM Rao said that the vocational training program would infuse some confidence among women who are willing to start their own enterprise by obtaining loans from the bank.

The bank was in the fore front for boosting entrepreneurial and vocational skills of women in their field of interest under Prime Minister’s Mudra scheme. Center for Entrepreneur Development of Women (CEDW) cell has also been established by the bank to provide loans for the women keen interested in cooking bakery products after the completion of their training program.

Financial assistance would be provided for JSS to train women on embroidery and tailoring courses. The bank would give away certificates to the women who complete their course, he said. The Jana Shikshana Sansthan (JSS) director V Srinath said that vocational training courses can help women to find their own means for livelihood. Making homemade and bakery products at home can help cut cost and assures quality product.

Majority of the women could not utilize the loans provide by the banks in a proper way. The vocational training program was aimed to empower skills and them self-reliant, he said. Canara Bank branch manager M Raja Ramesh, JSS programmee assistant program officer V Sridevi, coordinator A Purnima and others were also present during the inaugural session.
