Women power came to life as a group of artisans who gathered at the art gallery exhibited their talents in various forms on Tuesday.

Women power came to life as a group of artisans who gathered at the art gallery exhibited their talents in various forms on Tuesday. An amalgamation of craft and art, the event which is powered by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) brought enthusiastic women to share common interests under a single platform.

The three-day exhibition cum sale of handicrafts and handmade products of SHG Women producers and Development of Women and Children in Rural Areas (DWACRA) was inaugurated by Zilla Parishad Chairperson Gadde Anuradha and Bonda Sujatha. Speaking on the occasion Anuradha hailed the works of women and expressed glad over the event’s organization.

“Women coming together to exhibit their works is very welcoming. They should collectively work towards empowerment of other women and gain international recognition,” she said. Everything that is essential to adorn oneself like trendy matching jewelry, accessories to that of mural art, wall hangings, paintings, framed quill art, paper flowers, paper jewelry, thread jewelry, Banjara bags, jute bags, vases, mirror works, embroidery, utilities and many more are put for grabs at the expo.

About 30 Women groups from across the district working with various organisations that promote handicrafts and handmade goods participated in the show. The event is also promoted by Veerammathalli Agriculture SHG Women Arts and Crafts Producer’s Company. NABARD Deputy General Manager N Madhumurthy, Andhra Arts Academy secretary Golla Narayana Rao, CEO of Cultural Centre of Vijayawada E Sivanagi Reddy, and others were present during the inauguration.
