Fervour marks Rathotsavam

The annual ‘Rathotsavam’, the celestial chariot procession, of Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy and his consort was taken out on a grand note by the management committee of Sri Kanyaka Parameswari Anna Satram on Tuesday. The procession began at 3 pm with pomp and gaiety as people competed to pull the chariot encircling the shrine.

In addition, cultural programmes by ‘bhajan’ troupes in front of the chariot stood out as the special attraction during the fête Meanwhile, tight security arrangements were made by the police and organising committee to ensure smooth conduct of the festivities. It provided a hassle free darshan of the processional deities and prasadam to the devotees participated in the annual chariot procession.
