A melodious Flute Concert

A flute concert by Dr Jayaprada Ramamurthy was organised by the Department of Culture, Government of Andhra Pradesh at Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College on Sunday evening. Dr Jayaprada is one of the leading artists of India and also a famous musician in the world.

She had efficient training from eminent guru Ramani. The first female flautist Dr Jayaprada Ramamurthy represented the state of Andhra Pradesh at renowned National & International music festivals. Jayaprada is the Daughter of the renowned Carnatic vocalist Prema Ramamurthy.

Jayaprada had commenced the flute concert with “Mahaganapatim Bhajeham”. The audience enjoyed the concert while Jayaprada continued with the keerthans like “Brochevarevarura”, “Govardhana Gireesam”. She also presented the compositions of Annamacharya and Purandhara Das.

The concert was concluded with “Thillana”. The pleasant flute concert was ably supported by Kokkonda Subrahmanyam Sarma on Violin, K Sadguru Charan on Mrudangam and G Hanumantha Rao on Ghatam.

The decision taken by the Department of Culture to organise one cultural event every week came from the artists segment and art lovers of Vijayawada. At the same time it is also suggested that if the details of the porgramme were publicised well in advance more viewers will be attracted.
