Devotees visiting the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam, atop Indrakeeladri hill, now can have a meal served at the temple premises under the Nitya Annadanam Scheme from 9 am. The temple officials have kick started the new initiative from Sunday, following the orders issued by the Minister for Endowments P Manikayala Rao.

It is known that, the Nitya Annadanam scheme earlier was implemented from 11 am till 2 pm. Considering the increase in demand for the anndanam scheme these days, Minister has guided the officials to feed the pilgrims from 9 am to manage the rush atleast to an extent in the noon. On Sunday, Temple AEO and Public Relations Officer S Achyuta Ramaiah supervised the arrangements and interacted with devotees at the dining hall.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that with complaints pertaining to poor quality of food being served to pilgrims during the ‘Annadanam Seva’ from different sections, Minister for Endowments has guided the temple officials to provide meals and maintain a hygienic atmosphere in the dining hall.

Apart from this, devotees will be offered Pongali along with the regular menu. A sound system will also be kept soon at the dining hall to play the slokas of Goddess Annapoorna Devi, he added.
