Bommidala Sriramakrishna Murthy Foundation is organising Spoorthi Awards, a programme to honour personalities who stood out to be one apart from the rest, at Sri Venkateswara Vignana Mandiram on Saturday.

Addressing about the event at Press club on Tuesday, historian and retired professor of UoH Vakulabharanam Rama Krishna said, “The main aim of Spoorthi Awards is to ensure that people, who have come out to work or contribute their services for the public are appreciated.

The gesture would help them not only in continuing their services but will also inspire many others to come forward.” Subhash Palekar, the farmer who practised zero budget farming will be honoured from the field of agriculture while Dr S V Adinarayana Rao of Prema Hospital, Vishakhapatnam will be conferred with the award for his tremendous work in treating patients for free and at a nominal fee.

Koneru Satya Prasad, an NRI who has been instrumental in engaging deprived children pursue education will be felicitated on the occasion under the education field. Poet from Hyderabad, K Siva Reddy will be a part of the awardees while the family members of Pathankot martyr Jagadish Chand will accept award for bravery on his behalf.

The chairperson of the event will be Justice Ambati Lakshman Rao. Justice Jasthi Chalameswar who is heading Supreme Court of India will also be present on the occasion.
