Post the Intermediate examinations, students across the state are now busy preparing for the EAMCET exams scheduled to be held on April 29. The EAMCET examination plays a vital role in getting admissions for engineering and medical colleges.

Every year, more than two lakh students appear for EAMCET across the State. Depending on the scores in this examination, be it engineering or medicine, the career path is chosen for the students.

The three-hour paper consists of three divisions and 160 questions are distributed among the 3 subjects for students aspiring to join the engineering stream. While mathematics occupy 80 per cent of the questions the rest are equally divided among physics and chemistry.

For medical students the EAMCET paper would comprise physics, chemistry, botany and zoology and the 160 questions are equally divided. The pattern of setting is multiple-choice objective type without negative marking. Ch Jagadeesh an MPC student said that EAMCET is a competitive exam whereas Intermediate is a knowledge-based exam.

In competitive exams, questions, in majority of the cases, will be given with some twist and modification, where the candidate has to apply logical thinking. In CET examination, especially subject like physics will be tougher. “We will have little over five weeks before the exam. In such a scenario, time management is the most essential aspect.

One should lay proper focus on preparing mathematics and chemistry which earns a decent score in the examination. There is no negative marking so the best would be to attempt all the questions, he opined. J Santosh a BiPC student opined that according to many students EAMCET is just a multiple choice examination where the results are decided by luck.

Going through every subject and chapter on a daily basis would help the candidates to appear for the examination with confidence. For medicine aspirants botany will be tougher. Apart from detailed reading, keep solving old question papers one should also undergo more practice tests in the preparation period on chemistry and botany for better result. Mock tests will also help in managing time in the main examination, he said.

Speaking to The Hans India on Thursday, AP EAMCET convener Ch Sai Babu said that over 2.5 lakh students are expected to take the Engineering, Agriculture and Medicine Common Entrance Test (EAMCET-2016) scheduled for April 29.

The test will be conducted closely at 410 centres in the State. Arrangements were being made by the officials for the smooth conduct of the examination across the State. As of now, two regional centres were established in Hyderabad for the convenience of the students appearing for the examination from Andhra Pradesh.
