Award-winning craftsmen felicitated

As many as 9 craftsman from various parts of Andhra Pradesh who were conferred with State awards were given away the certificates, cash awards and were felicitated by Andhra Pradesh Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited, at Swarajya Maidan here on Friday.

The event marked beginning of 10 days Lepakshi Craft Bazaar that is inaugurated by Chairperson and Managing Director of Amaravati Development Corporation Lakshmi Parthasarathy.

Cash prize of Rs 25,000 for the first best three crafts, Rs 10,000 for the other 6 craftsman were given as an encouragement to the winners of State award.

The expo contained a big variety of handmade products ranging from textiles in various hues and textures besides adorable wooden crafted, metal carved works.

For the youngsters who take a liking for the handloom clothes, collection of saris, dress materials, salwar suits and kurthas in Cottons, Silk and Jute material are a must visit. Jewelry made out of wood, lacquer, beads and Bombay jewelry (Fancy type) are plenty to choose from, at the expo.

During 10 days of the expo, attractive discounts were also being offered at 220 plus stalls that occupied the grounds, said the Organisers. General Manager of APHDC I Lakshmi Nag, Lepakshi Showroom’s managers from Vijayawada and Guntur T Venkaataramanappa and G Subba Rao among others were present.
